SAMUEL GARRETT

Samuel Garrett, 15, of Lyerly, passed away Nov. 14.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Fred Garrett.

Survivors include his father, Thurston Garrett of Henagar, Ala.; mother, Debbie Stone Garrett of Lyerly; grandparents, G.B. and Odia Kay Stone, Bonnie Garrett all of Henagar, Ala.; uncles, Wayne Tinker of Ider, Ala., Charles Brown, Rod Garrett both of Henagar; aunts, Leda Tinker of Ider, Ala., Joyce Stone Brown of Henagar; several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CST today in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thurston Garrett, Rev. John Mann and Rev. Roger Haney officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Pisgah, Ala.

Arrangements by Kerby Funeral Home, Henagar, Ala.

 

DALE McCULLIGH

Dale Ivan McCulligh, 29, of Trenton, passed away Nov. 9. He was of the Seventh Day Adventist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Butch McCulligh; and grandfather, Bob Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Christy McCulligh; daughters, Jesstine and Olivia McCulligh; sisters, Beth and Charlotte Canty, Katie Gilley, Crystal (B.J.) Conner; brother, Steve (Jennifer) McCulligh; parents, Edith Johnson, Debbie and Tim Burnett; grandparent, Kathleen Johnson; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 6 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Moore Funeral Home for expenses.

GERALDINE MORRIS

Geraldine Morris, 77, of Trenton, passed away Nov. 14. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and New England Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Harold Morris; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Gloria Morris of Trenton, Tony Morris of East Ridge, Tenn., Tommy and Dawn Morris of Trenton; sisters, Muriel Wilbur of Kennesaw, Delores Anderson of Lakeview, Janet Gossett of Trenton; brothers, Arvil Guffey of Chattanooga, Elton Guffey of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Flowers and Rev. Robert Goff officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from noon until 2 p.m.

MURRELL NEAL

Murrel E. Neal, 88, of Lookout Mountain, passed away Nov. 10 in a local hospital. A native of Harlan, Ky. he had spent the greater part of his life on Lookout Mountain. and was the owner and operator of Murrel Neal Construction for many years. He was a charter member of Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church for 60 years and held various positions including Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and was a member of the choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served in the European Theater during World War II and was the recipient of many commendation medals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Mattie Neal; great-grandmother, Joy Neal Segraves; and brothers, Marion, Garnett and John Neal.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Hazel Durham Neal; children and their spouses, Paulette and Ronnie Breeden of Rock Spring, Murlyne Miller of Chickamauga, Alan and Jinna Neal of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Dennis and Lynn Neal of Chattanooga; grandchildren and their spouses, Wade and Denita Breeden, Cheryl and Phillip Gordon, Shane and Linda Miller, Erica and Matt Hilliard, Allison and Mike Sherman, Leslie and Chad Segraves, Ashlee Neal and Tifinie and Stewart Hise; sister, Bobbie Forrester of New Salem; 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 12 at Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Robertson and Rev. Alvin Cummings officiating.

Interment was in Payne’s Chapel Cemetery with full military honors.

REBA PORTER

Reba Sue Bray Porter, 72, of Valley Head, Ala., passed away Nov. 13. She was retired from Comcast Cable Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Goins Bray; sisters, Madge Yvonne Bray and Cynthia Aleta Bray.

Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Porter of Valley Head, Ala.; daughters, Deborah Faye Revels of Section, Ala., Robin Diane Hamilton of Valley Head, Carol Curtis Barnes of Monte Rio, Calif., Kimberly Lynn Leedy of Hayward, Calif; son, David Michael Revesl of Rossville; sisters, Linda York of Trenton, Trudy Forshee of Whiteside, Tenn., Judy Bray of Ooltewah, Tenn., Marilyn Wallin of Rising Fawn, Betty Mundy of Trenton; brother, John L. Bray of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 16 in the Ryan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nick Forshee officiating.

Interment was in Mountain Home Cemetery in Ider, Ala.

JEAN STARKEY

Jean Starkey, 71, of Pisgah, Ala., passed away Nov. 12 in Huntsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Josphine Owens; husband, Rev. Henry Starkey; and daughter, Kim Dixson.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Danny and Vickie Starkey, Terry Starkey, all of Pisgah; grandchildren, Daniel Starkey (Sara Sine), Jeremy and Elizabeth Starkey, Cody Dixson, Jera Dixson, Amber Starkey and Cotton Littles of Scottsboro, Ala., Cherokee Dixson, Makiah Dixson special aunt and uncle, Alma and Bill Hoback of Chattanooga.

Funeral services were Nov. 13 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mitchell Foshee and Rev. Scott Kirby officiating.

Interment was in Pisgah Cemetery.

RUBY WALLIN

Ruby Faye Wallin, 69, of  Trenton, passed away Nov. 10. She was a graduate of Dade County High School Class of 1960. She was a member of the Rising Fawn Baptist church and a member of the church choir and ABWA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Wallin.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and John Cutichia of Rising Fawn; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lori Wallin of Trenton; grandchildren, Ashley and Kim Cutichia, Nic, Natalie and Chase Wallin; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 13 at the Rising Fawn Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Wallace and Rev. Tommy Crider officiating.

Interment was in Miller Cemetery.
