A tragic
accident on I-59 north Saturday afternoon claimed two lives and left a
3–year–old girl injured.
The accident
occurred when a north bound Dodge Charger ran into the back of a tractor
trailer that was stopped in traffic due to construction on I-24 in Tennessee.
According to
Cpl. Andrew Gideon with the Georgia State Patrol, “They just seemed to not see
the tractor trailer and run up underneath it.”
Witnesses said
that the Charger never slowed before impacting the tractor trailer.
Gideon said
that the driver, 28–year–old Michele Fletes and passenger 27–year–old Raul
Fletes were killed on impact.
The couple’s
daughter was transported to TC Thompson Children’s Hospital by LifeForce after
being extricated by Trenton and North Dade Fire and Rescue personnel.
She has been
released from the hospital and is in the care of family members.
