Chris Little and Zach Gaddis trap an Ider player in a rundown during Monday's game. Little got the tag out for the Wolverines. The Wolverines played hard and battled till the end but fell to the Hornets 14-6. Their next home game will be Thursday afternoon when the Wolverines face the Sonoraville Phoenix.

The Dade County High School Wolverine baseball team opened play last week under new head coach Matt High.

The Wolverines traveled to Temple and came away with a big 6-4 win.

Chris Little got the first home run of the season for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines built a little confidence with the win as the young team tries to settle in.

On Saturday the Wolverines hosted Adairsville in another region game.

After falling behind early the Wolverines battled back but came up just a little short, losing a tough 6-5 game.

Zach Gaddis led the Wolverines from the mound and from plate, pitching four innings and hitting a home run to help his cause.

On Monday afternoon the Wolverines hosted the Ider Hornets.

The Wolverines fell behind early but rallied to tie the game 3-3 after three innings of play.

With only 13 players the Wolverines find themselves short on pitching and playing experience and it caught up with them late in the game as the Hornets rallied late to take a 14-6 win.

Gaddis led the Wolverines again at the plate picking up three hits in four at bats including another home run. Trent Faircloth had a big two RBI hit for the Wolverines also.

The Wolverines have a full schedule this week as they were to travelled to Chattooga on Tuesday.

On Thursday the Wolverines will be back at home to face Sonoraville and then travel to Gordon Central on Friday.

Next Tuesday the Wolverines will host the always tough Calhoun Yellow Jackets.

Get out and see the Wolverines. Coach High has them playing hard and they battle till the final out.
