Two separate accidents on I-59 just North of Trenton Wednesday night took the life of an Ohio man and left two Dade County residents with serious injuries. The first accident is under investigation as to what actually happened. The north bound Ford pickup struck something that caused it to flip. The drive was killed instantly.
The second accident (pictured above) happened when traffic slowed for the first accident and a van rear-ended a tractor trailer. The two occupants of the van were trapped for some time while rescue and ambulance personnel worked to free them. The female passenger was transported by LifeGuard Ambulance while the male driver was flown by LifeForce. It took rescue personnel almost two hours to extricate the victims and in interstate was closed for approximately three hours.
Names and conditions of those injured have not been released.
