Late in the evening Wednesday night, 31 year old Jason Dewayne Plummer was arrested and brought to the Dade County Jail on probation violation charges. Before the booking process was completed, Plummer was able to escape from the Dade County Jail. Shortly after, Plummer was able to make his way to the Dade County Transfer Station where he has worked as a Trustee in the past. Plummer then stole one of the Dade County Transfer Station trucks and crashed through a chain link fence. The Trenton City Police Department and Officers of the Dade County Sheriff’s Office then began a high speed pursuit with Plummer. Plummer was able to hide the vehicle in the woods on the north end of Dade County and fled on foot. Plummer is still at large and anyone with information on the location of Plummer is asked to contact the Dade County Sheriff’s Office at (706)657-3233.
SPECIAL UPDATE FROM THE DADE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT
On Friday July 3, 2009 at about 12:00 pm, Jason Plummer contacted the Dade County Sheriff’s Office and turned himself in. Plummer had been on the run for two days and he was ready to give up. Plummer contacted a Dade County Detective and he was picked up at a family member’s house without incident. Plummer went to the hospital with minor injuries due to being in the woods for two days, but is going to be all right. This was a collective effort with the Federal Marshall’s, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Trenton Police Department, Georgia State Probation, and the Dade County Sheriff’s Office.
