I, Carnell Galloway, am announcing my candidacy for the position of County Executive/Chairman of the Dade County Commission. I am a lifelong resident of Sand Mountain, and a 1967 graduate of Davis High School where I was proud to be on the Yellow Jackets football team that won the 1964 state championship.

I have been married to Mayiris Davidson Galloway for 40 years. We have one son Clay and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowman Galloway. I also have two granddaughters, Harley and Dallas.

I attend Sand Mountain United Methodist Church, where I volunteer for the community food bank program. I worked as a boilermaker for 30 years before my retirement, the last 10 years of which, was in a supervisory capacity. I was a trustee in my union, Boilermakers Local 454, and helped to settle grievances and negotiated contracts.

I hope to use the leadership and negotiating skills that I have learned during my career to bring a common sense approach to Dade County government, and to work closely with my fellow commissioners if elected to solve the current financial problems of Dade County. I believe that the Executive/Chairman has a responsibility to take an active role in bringing the other commissioners together to settle personal differences, and to work out fair and equitable solutions that benefits all of Dade County, while taking care not to shortchange any of the individual districts.
